Makeup and some perspective

A littler glitter, some tie dye, and even more glitter

I'm back to regular schedule in which I'll post something every Friday. Last week I went on a Electronic Dance Music Cruise called Holy Ship 9.0. Departing from Cape Canaveral, FL and gliding the sea to Nassau, Bahamas. It was music through most of the day into evening, good food, and few good people. Of course I had to do as much self expression with what I had through makeup and clothing. As the title states, glitter and tie dye were the main components with proper accessories. I was not able to get the picture quality I wanted or the right poses because I was always in the rush and maybe a little under the influence of strawberry daiquiris and wine.

The first day on my trip before hitting the ship I stayed at a beach hotel. Spent some time at a few clubs, beach, and pool side. Easy glitter liner and a colorful look for the waterside adventure. When it was time to leave, the first night I gotta take it easy and stay comfortable. So I opted for comfy tie dye and for most of the outfits, I paired them with gold metal cat ears

I did not bother with makeup for the look, because I was feeling my sunglasses. However, by night 2 they got stomped on while I was dancing in the crowed. When I did use makeup, I used glitter and items that were easy to transport such was stick foundation, highlighter, dual ended brushes, and palettes with various eyeshadow mediums. What came with me on the trip were:

  • Clinique Foundation Stick, Chubby in the nude in 02 Abundant Alabaster
  • Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Eden
  • Milk Cream Highlighter in Super Nova
  • NYX Lip Lingerie and Suedes in various Dark shades
  • MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Powder in Medium
  • Tarteist Contour Palette
  • Too Faced Queen Size Mascara
  • Nyx glitter eyeliner and loose glitter
  • Mannymua eyeshadow palette by Makeup Geek and Tartelette Amazonian Clay Matte Eyeshadow Palette.

    That no makeup, makeup look.

I will thank Sephora youtube for my inspiration this week. I was watching a few of my favorite food and travel youtubers when I came across the sephora ad for their no makeup, makeup look for 2017. Products featured were Dr. Jart's BB Cream, Benefit's brow products, Bite cosmetics, and other notable brands. The products used are on the pricier end and I saw a few modifications, well rather simplifications I could play on the look. It resulted in creating my own rendition of the look.

I lowered the product count and added my own twist with the eyeliner because I like to use different colors instead of the basic black and brown. I will also note, if you want to cover up blemishes or dark circles I do recommend using your concealer of preference. However, if you need suggestions I recommend:

    1. Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer
    2. Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer
    3. Naked Skin Weightless Concealer

The base of the face I used Naked Skin One and Done Sheer Foundation in Medium light. The color range is decent but not the ideal range for all skin tones. Sephora used a BB cream and I tend to move away from the BB creams because they have alot of flashback and  make skin lighter which I have no interest in because I want my normal skin tone to be represented. I do not need to be any paler than I am. I realized while writing this, I should find a drug store brand sheer foundation so this look can be switch out for a cost effective combination. As for the distinguishing factor in my look I used Urban Decay 24/7 liner in Mildew, a dark green to line my eyes with. The green does compliment my brown eyes, another color I would opt for is a purple in which I did not have at the time. To add, I should have gone for a NYX line product because I feel that 20$ is not worth it for an eyeliner product. Other products I used were:

NYE makeup, do I need to add gold

Today I spent sometime working on my looks for NYE. I'm heading out to Long Island City instead of the Big Apple this year. There was suppose to be a video on this look but my camera died and I was getting frustrated with myself thus I was hell to the video and well, here I am. With the frustration from making the video, the makeup look did come out decent. In my mind I wanted the different colors to come through, however they blended together and created a very interesting mix.

You can tell that the lips are what pop in this look.  I've come to really like the formula from Smashbox Always on Liquid Lipstick. I'm wearing Bang-Bang and the other color I've been using is Chillzone. I want to purchase the other shades because the formula is comfortable. Matte lip products tend to make your lips very dry and it's not at all comfortable. The Anastasia line of matte lipstick I can't stand for long periods of time. Other lines that are okay are the suedes and lingerie mattes by NYX and the Tarte creamy line.

My face makeup consisted of the mix Tarte Rainforest of the Sea water foundation in Light Neutral and a gifted foundation, Maybelline FIT me! Dewy + Smooth Normal to Dry in Nude Beige. The foundation was set with Tarte Smooth Operator Amazonia Clay Finishing power. The foundation and finishing powder combination was not the best I had because after awhile I could feel the makeup melting off and becoming greasy. When I touched my face, my fingertips left indentations. I use the Lancome Le Duo stick for my face after getting the wrong shade. I was able to make it work! It's is beautiful light product and I did not want it to go to waste. To add to the contour I use my Too Faced Cocoa Contour Palette using medium cocoa. Overall this was the look I made which is not the main look I'm going to use when I go out.

The following look will be one that I will. To see how I got the look and the products that I used, watch the video below.
